Fereshteh Parnian
Bio
Parnian entered Tehran’s Art University in 2000 and began her practical experiences by working as a professional film editor in the fast growing cinema industry of Iran in 2004. In a course of over four years, she edited numerous short films, video art projects and documentaries.
Parnian took her first practical step as a film director in 2009 by producing, co-writing, directing and editing her first short film: Happy Birthday which was selected and screened in several international film festivals during the 2010 and 2011. In 2013 she directed and edited her second short film After The Class, which was selected and screened in many international film festivals including Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, 32nd Uppsala International Short Film Festival, 60th Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, 16th Brussels Short Film Festival 2013, Aspen Shortsfest. During the 2015 and 2016 she wrote and directed Aram which was first screened at Cannes International Film Festival in 2016.
Fershteh Parnian currently resides in Lyon, France where she has continued her academic formation joining university of Lyon 2 in 2015. At the time she is working on new screenplay to be produced in France and post producing a feature documentary shot in Iran between 2017 and 2018.
